The Teamsters Union wants to thank you for your help in getting the U.S. Senate to block funding for the Bush administration’s reckless pilot program to open our border to unsafe Mexican trucks. But the fight isn’t over.
While we won the first round in the Senate, the measure is part of a bill that now goes to a conference committee with the U.S. House of Representatives.
We must stand together with one voice.
Rep. Nancy Boyda (D-KS) has opened a second front in our battle by introducing the “Safe American Roads Act of 2007” (HR 1773).
This bill would prohibit the Department of Transportation from granting authority to Mexican motor carriers beyond the commercial zone and require compliance with all 22 safety and security requirements outlined in the 2002 Department of Transportation Appropriations Act.
With your help, we can stop the Bush administration in its quest to allow unsafe Mexican trucks to share the road with you and your family.
