Hoffa Hails New White House Task Force on Workers, Focus
on Middle Class
It didn't take very long for President Obama to start the
important task of laying the groundwork for rebuilding the
middle class through the formation of the White House
Task Force on Working Families and the repeal
of Bush-era policies that have helped to undermine the
middle class of the last eight years. The task force, headed by
long-time friend of working families, Vice President Joe Biden,
will tackle the tough problem of restoring our economy through
the revitalization of the middle class.
Lilly Ledbetter Act Restores Fairness in the
Workplace
In another sign that there's a new sheriff in town, President
Obama signed
the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, restoring a worker's right
to seek redress for illegal pay discrimination.
EFCA Supporters Rally in D.C.,
Deliver 1.5 Million Signatures to Congress

Today, hundreds of workers rallied today in
Washington, D.C. to support the passage of the Employee Free
Choice Act (EFCA). A petition signed by more than 1.5 million
people in support of this vital legislation was delivered to

Victories Continue in the New Year for Private School Bus
Workers
Picking up where they left off in 2008, private school bus
drivers continue to organize as part of the Drive Up Standards
campaign. Since the campaign began to improve safety, service
and work standards in the private school bus and transit
industry started in 2006, more than 14,600 workers have become
Teamsters. Victories in 2009 include:
