The initial version of the Economic Stimulus legislation (HR1) did not contain funding for transit operations.  The shortfall in local taxes and other sources of income for Transportation Agencies adversely impact workers who are represented by the Teamsters and other Unions.

Many of our members face unemployment and many Americans who depend on public transportation will be seriously affected.

Fortunately, the Schumer-Specter Senate Amendment 185 would include money from the Economic Stimulus legislation to support transit operations.

Please call or e-mail President Obama and your US Senators and urge them to support Senate Amendment 185.
