Greetings,
On Monday, August 17, Teamsters Local 1205 hand delivered a
letter from the Long Island Federation of Labor (attached) to
the yard managers at each of the nine Baumann/Acme bus yards on
Long Island and to the Company headquarters. The letter demanded
that the Company respect our legal right to organize our union.
The Long Island Federation of Labor represents 250,000 union
members. In addition, our Governor, members of Congress
(see attached flyer) and many other political leaders have
signed and sent letters to Baumann/Acme Bus supporting our
campaign to form a union with the Teamsters Local 1205. These
letters also tell the Company to respect our right to form our
union. And we held a press conference at the Bohemia yard!
You can see a video of some of it on Newsday’s website: http://www.newsday.com/news/bus-drivers-rally-for-unionization-1.1375276
If you have any questions, give Teamsters Local 1205 a
call. The Local can be reached at:
516-501-1205. Also, check out the
website: www.schoolbusworkersunited.org
to learn more. On that site, there's a specific page about our
Baumann/Acme Bus campaign.
Hope your summer is going great and we look forward to seeing
everyone back at work soon!
Sincerely, Baumann/Acme Bus Organizing Committee
