Union Holds 2009 Teamsters Women's
Conference The International Brotherhood of Teamsters held its
annual Women's Conference on September 10-12, 2009 in Las Vegas,
where nearly 1,000 participants came and showed pride in their
great union.
Among the many speakers were U.S. Labor
Secretary Hilda Solis, General President Jim Hoffa and
General Secretary-Treasurer Tom Keegel. Review the

Amerijet Pilots Approve First Teamsters
Contract Flight crew members
for Amerijet International, a cargo airline, yesterday approved
a first contract with the company. This is the pilots’
first collective bargaining agreement after five years of
negotiations and a strike that began August 27. The pilots and
flight engineers voted 35 to 3 for the contract. The pilots fly
Amerijet’s five Boeing 727s and two leased Boeing
767s to and from Miami International Airport, the Caribbean
Islands and South America.
Teamsters Protest Colombia's Violent,
Anti-Worker Government Teamsters
are telling the ugly truth behind the pretty exhibits that are
part of Colombia’s latest campaign to get a trade deal
with the United States. Teamster members took part in a
demonstration involving hundreds of human rights and fair trade
advocates outside of Washington’s Union Station on the day
after Labor Day.

Teamsters Launch a Nationwide Campaign to Organize
FedEx Workers in Canada On
September 14, the Teamsters Union is launching a full-scale
campaign to organize Canadian FedEx workers. FedEx is a global
courier company with several thousand workers in Canada. The
Union's campaign is in response to numerous calls from FedEx
workers seeking the same working conditions and fair treatment
as Teamster members of the other major Canadian courier
companies.
Teamsters Call on Whole Foods, UNFI to
Support Health Care Reform On September 12, the Teamsters protested at
the “Entrepreneur's Open Forum” at the Numi Tea
Garden to highlight Whole Food’s hypocrisy of claiming to
support sustainable policies while its CEO lobbies against real
health reform for its workers and
customers.
UPS Worker Retires After 63
Years Ask
Marty Peters how he does it and he’ll tell you that he
simply takes everything in stride. “I take everything one
day at a time,” Peters said. That nonchalant attitude has
gotten Peters far in life and just recently, the member of Local
243 in Plymouth Township, Michigan reached one more milestone:
retirement.
